About Catalonia, Spain
Catalonia is a region of Spain, but proud of its own language and history. Barcelona is the capital and the largest city of Catalonia, as well as the second-largest city in Spain. Many Catalans think of themselves as a separate nation from the rest of Spain.
On the East, Catalonia is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea.
PS: On July 28, 2010, Catalonia became the second Spanish territory, after the Canary Islands, to forbid bullfighting. The ban, which went into effect on January 1, 2012, had originated in a popular petition supported by over 180,000 signatures. – The Press Association
