Green School’s vision is to create a natural, holistic, student-centered learning environment that empowers and inspires students to be creative, innovative, green leaders. Its bamboo buildings are an integral part of this vision. The founders wanted to build it out of the most environmentally friendly material possible, and they wanted it to be beautiful. Bamboo was the logical option.
The team that built the green school went on to found Ibuku, a team of designers and builders who place all their bets on bamboo. They believe, and I agree, that bamboo’s potential is underestimated; that it should be used to house many more people, especially in the tropics.
